Mmh, I still think "normal" proportional representation is better. In this system you still end up with only one candidate, and that means that some people might never see their #1 choice elected. It's better than FPTP though.

And it seems like an iron-clad opinion poll. I can pick a minor candidate who exactly shares my viewpoint as choice #1. And that shows up in the officially counted results as what one voter really wants. And everyone who might agree with me sees how close we are to actually winning. And all the strategists see how many votes are out there for a given point of view. This would be way better than polling companies calling the 200 people who still have landlines, or however the heck it's done these days.

Ranked Choice causes more problems than it solves. Studies in New York, Minneapolis, and Oakland show 2% to 10% more spoiled ballots in poor precincts than rich precincts.

While I support the voting method....I don't like the idea of tripling the salaries pensions of elected officials.

What they are leaving out and what few people realize but what Congress itself published is that the house is run by one person, the Speaker of the House. The Senate is run by one person, the Senate Majority Leader. Those two pick the with a majority by their party on each committee, the committee chairs, the bills heard in the committees, And tell their party members how to vote. In other words, three people run our government, the president and those two. And they are told what to do by a political party who elected them, who in turn are controlled by the ultra wealthy political elite who fund the parties and the candidates. That is the root cause of the political divide and of most of our political problems, including the national debt. That is masked by everything they are talking about. Sounds like a good idea to me. We can also increase the number of seats in Congress. "The Number of Representatives shall not exceed one for every thirty Thousand. . ." -US Constitution (article 1 section 2) P.S. I didn't get it at first, but now I understand why some people prefer STAR voting to regular ranked choice voting. Mr. Beat's video "What's the best way to vote?" is worth watching.

This is just common sense. The political tribalism will just lead to more dysfunction and authoritarianism until we fix this problem.

This is incorrect - what is the difference with what we have now each district is made up of by a certain number of people. If you enlarge the district and have multiple representatives it breaks down to the same number of representatives Example if each district has 100,000 people with one representative. Then you enlarge the district to 600,000 with 6 representatives it’s still the same number of people The difference the people will not have one person to go to for help but multiple and end up getting no help. My town board is at large with 4 representatives you can complain or ask for help and nothing gets down. Towns with wards you have one representative and you can go to them for help. If they are bad at their job you can vote them out. With multiple representatives you never get rid of the bad apples. Rank choice voting is a better way to elect people to the office Fair districts it’s done already in many county, state and federal districts. 🤦🏻🤦🏻 unfortunately not all areas have it. We just need to implement it across the country for all positions As for contacting my representative I will tell them vote NO just for the reasons of enlarging districts with more representatives. It’s the dumbest part of this bill remove it and then it will pass

What happens if a party gets lets say 10 electorate seats but gets 0 party votes. Wouldn't that overshoot the 120 seats in the parliament?

Do we forget that we live in a democratic republic? Yes, a republic not a democracy. Our founding fathers gave us this gift. I will say for RCV that it is intriguing, but I am still reading and searching for the best way to choose our representatives.
